Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to come through the gums and commonly affect other teeth as they develop, by erupting sideways or becoming impacted. When this occurs, the teeth are often extracted. For most people, wisdom teeth cause nothing more than mild discomfort, but with the average human jaw being smaller than it once was; sometimes there just isn’t the room for them to break through. This is when the problems start.
A common complaint is an impacted wisdom tooth, which is when the erupting tooth comes through pushing against the adjacent tooth. This causes the wisdom tooth to erupt at an angle, irritating the cheek and gums and possibly leading to painful swellings or ulcerations.
At Tooth- n-Gum Dental, our dentist is able to perform wisdom tooth removal professionally and efficiently, whilst ensuring that you are kept as comfortable as possible throughout. For more complex issues surrounding wisdom teeth, you may be referred to specialist (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon) to ensure you get the best possible dental treatment.
